Todays “butterfly” is actually a grasshopper. Phymateus viridipes, also known as the African bush grasshopper, is an African locust in the family Pyrgomorphidae (gaudy grasshoppers). Todays stamp from the Republic of Rwanda shows the subspecies Phymateus viripedes brunneri.
