In 1919, Fiume declared itself an independent free state under the leadership of the Italien nationalist and poet Gabriele d’Annunzio, leading to the issuance of stamps bearing the image of the national poet. Todays stamp is the 10 centesimi (C)issue with a CV of one euro for a mint copy.
