Stamp Stories from around the world

FIRST STAMPS OF THE WORLD:
The 9th country to issue stamps was Bavaria that is now the Southern part of Germany. On 1. November 1850 Bavaria issued the famous “Schwarzer Einser” with the denominations of one Kreuzer. Todays stamps is quite valuable with a CV of around 1.800 $/€ for both a cancelled and an unused copy. Shown is a beautiful postfresh copy (**). I bought the stamp this spring together with a large German collection. It is now for sale on Ebay. The current bid is 985 euro – much more than I have expectet.
