Stamp Stories from around the world

The 8th country to issue stamps was New South Wales (NSW) that is now part of Australia. On 1. January 1850 NSW issued six one penny stamps in different shades of red. They all show a “Sydney View”. Around the image is the text “Sigillum Nov. Camb. Aust.” (“Seal of New South Wales”) with the motto “Sic fortis Etruria crevit” (“thus mighty Etruria grew”).
