The Kingdom of Sardinia existed from 1720 until 1859, when it became part of the united Italy. Sardinia is an island west of the Italian Peninsula. The Kingdom issued a total of 17 stamps, the first stamps on 1 January 1851. Today’s stamp is the issue from 1851 with the denomination of 20 Centesimi (C). The stamp show the portrait of King Viktor Emanuel II (1820-1878).
