Stamp Stories from around the world

THURN and TAXIS is a German noble family. For centuries this family took care of the postal service in parts of Germany, eg Sachsen, Hessen and The Hanseatic Cities. From 1852 until 1866 they issued stamps. This particular stamp was issued in 1860. This is one of the most perfectly cancelled stamps that I have in my collection. The number cancel “380” is from the town of Plauen.
